Alisa Igoe and Tony McPartlan have been selected as Labour’s candidates in the marginal ward of Plaistow for the local elections on 5 May 2022.
Having been key members of Labour’s listening campaign in Plaistow through 2021, Alisa and Tony will lead the party’s campaign in the community over the next three months as Labour seeks to make gains from the Conservatives in the London Borough of Bromley.
Alisa Igoe has lived in Bromley since childhood and has brought her family up in the borough. She spends time volunteering for a number of local charities and campaigns, including Bromley Brighter Beginnings, a local charity providing essentials to vulnerable families in the borough, and Bromley Living Streets, which campaigns for safer, quieter, low-traffic streets which encourage walking and cycling. Alisa has been vocal about the need for better road safety measures in Bromley – including on Burnt Ash Lane – and for the council to do more to prosecute fly-tippers and improve the provision of housing in the ward for local residents. Tony McPartlan is deeply-rooted in Plaistow and works hard for people in the community. He is the Chair of the Friends of Kings Meadow and a Governor representing the people of Bromley at King’s College NHS Foundation Trust. He set up and runs a small charity that helps people manage their long-term health conditions. Tony actively campaigns on housing issues and wants to ensure our shopping parades and green spaces get the investment they need. As someone with lived experience in this area, he is also pushing for major improvements to social care services here in Bromley. Follow @TonyMcPartlan on Twitter.
Alisa Igoe said: “In the last year Labour volunteers have knocked on thousands of doors in Plaistow. We’ve listened to residents’ views and concerns, and better understand what they want. Tony and I are looking forward to continuing those conversations on the doorstep in the coming months.”
Tony McPartlan said: “Residents can be assured that if Alisa and I are elected as their councillors, we will be visible in the community, knocking on doors and actively taking on case work. Labour came close to winning here in 2018, and with new ward boundaries taking effect, every vote in Plaistow will truly count in May. Labour is the only alternative to the Conservatives in Plaistow, and with voters’ support, we can take that next step and elect councillors who will put our community first.”
Labour candidates for other wards in the borough will be announced in due course.
